Sopeira , municipio de la ribagorza oriental, est\u00e1 situado en la nacional 230 y a unos 721m de altitud ,se mantiene principalmente gracias a la agricultura y a las ganader\u00eda. Aqu\u00ed todav\u00eda aparecen cultivos mediterr\u00e1neos como la vid y el olivo-esplendido matid del paisaje. Sopeira es el punto clave donde empieza la comarca de L&#8217;alta ribagorza siendo el congot d&#8217;escales (ahora asiento de una gran presa ) el elemento orografico que marcaba esta distinci\u00f3n ,sin olvidarnos de sus paredes pr\u00e1cticamente verticales que hacen las delicias de escaladores as\u00ed como sus m\u00faltiples cuevas que asoman al precipicio ,convertidas ocasionalmente en nidos de \u00e1guilas. Aguas abajo nos encontramos un puente medieval totalmente restaurado y antiguo lazo de uni\u00f3n entre las dos orillas del noguera ribagorzana. Junto al rio ,y cercado de bellas monta\u00f1as ,Sant Cugat,L&#8217;Obaga,y Vinyer, aparece el monasterio de Ala\u00f3n , la iglesia guarda las caracter\u00edsticas propias del rom\u00e1nico. Fue consagrada por el obispo de Roda ,Raimundus,San Ram\u00f3n, el d\u00eda 8 de noviembre de 1123 ,aunque en la inscripci\u00f3n que aparece en la cripta consta el 16 de septiembre. Este monasterio tiene uno de los cartularios m\u00e1s importantes de la \u00e9poca medieval , en el aparecen 327 documentos fechados entre los a\u00f1os 806 y 814 el m\u00e1s antiguo y hasta 1245 el mas reciente. Todos ellos muestran las donaciones, posesiones y consagraciones de iglesias que estaban relacionadas o depend\u00edan del Monasterio de Ala\u00f3n
